Liza Villanueva-Lim
Founder, Beyond the Barrio
Liza Villanueva-Lim is the Founder of Beyond the Barrio, a movement beginning in Cansilayan, Zamboanga City, with a belief that geography should never determine the limits of a person's future.
Rooted in the community she serves, Liza has begun bringing young people together to explore technology, build confidence, strengthen communication, and imagine new possibilities for their lives. She listens closely to participants and their families, paying attention not only to the skills they want to develop but also to the practical barriers that can keep them from participating.
Through Beyond the Barrio, Liza is creating a locally led pathway that brings together purpose, education, supportive relationships, digital capability, and preparation for meaningful work and impact. Her vision begins with one community and reaches toward a future in which rural communities in the Philippines and beyond can develop their own Champions and create opportunity for generations to come.
